the things we pay for

the outgoing 3 on the county commission voted last night to provide financial incentives for a rock quarry near siler city. i'm not the slightest bit surprised. but really, their votes over the past several months seem criminal. it's inadequate that our only recourse is to vote these guys out. because even when we do, even when the county clearly speaks (not only with exasperation at every single meeting, but more importantly with their vote) they still have 6 months to ruin, ruin our home.

it's not just THIS board of commissioners. ones in the past did things like (along with the boe) approve the historic site of silk hope school to be the site of the current school (renovated 1994). what they didn't factor in was a) no land and b) no sewage. hmmmm. so what do they do? borrow land from a nearby farmer and SPRAY the sewage all over his field, then consider redistricting kids that would have been FINE had they put the school in a wiser place.

ahhh, the smell of fine sewage in the morning mixes well with the scent of young children. all because *sniff* that's where the school's ALWAYS been! i wish the change was NOW in the commissioners also. and siler city's appeal will just be fantastic with a big new mine, huh?
