in the meantime....
we have lots of photos from the busy halloween season (this year it's rivaling thanksgiving and christmas for get-togethers and food) but i've lost the cord that sends all the pictures up to my computer! bummer. of course there are stories but they're no fun without the pictures. i'm hopeful that a bit of cleaning tonight will make it turn up, so look forward to picture-ful posts in the next few days...
in the meantime, another little something on chatham county politics - this time it's actually kind of funny. outgoing commissioner tommy emerson evidently has made something of a halloween tradition of creating scarecrows inspired by people (this from the n&o). this year, inspired by the chatham coalition (the grassroots group i've been canvassing with most weekends to oust these commissioners) he made this scarecrow and accompanying sign (in case you can't tell from the picture, that guy is mooning you - or, i should say - us).

i'm glad to hear the coalition leaders are laughing about this one, as we've got to have a sense of humor sometime, and the halloween costumes that showed up on our doorstep tuesday convinced me that this holiday is our last vestige of public political-incorrectness. sometimes necessary, lest we lose our sense of humor. so, for the first and perhaps the only time ever, i say yay, tommy.
(come to think of it, i also just have to say that it is sort of cute and hilarious that this was reported in our local newspaper. ha.)
